Child Centered
“Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them; and when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to him, saying, "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it." (Luke 18:15-17)
Faith Imprints was developed with children as an integral part of the ministry. Faith is inherent in the process of growing and changing physically, cognitively, and emotionally. Consistent and positive relationships with a number of adults and other children provide the framework for children to learn about themselves and their world while developing relationships with other people and with God. Therefore, children attend all Faith Imprints meetings with their parents.
Faith Imprints is child-centered because—
Faith formation is interactive with children right from the start
The presence of children calls parents to explore their calling as First Priests
Relationships formed during the first three years allow families to connect deeply during a vulnerable time
Faith formation is deepened and enhanced through relationships with children and others
Children’s expressions of faith teach parents valuable lessons
Celebrating and affirming our children’s unique gifts within a larger community reinforces their Christian identity
The presence of children enable parents to actively engage as First Priests in the their lives
Modeling and practicing rituals and activities with children present in the group enriches further faith exploration at home
